THE COUNTERFITS
The 3 piece band were formed in January 2005 in Bath and since then have put in many hours of rehearsal allowing them to incorporate a variety of styles and influences and in so doing building a unique sound.
This sound is the result of a ‘fusion’ of various genres from punk rock to blues ( yes, the blues, we are not one of these bands that try and claim credibility by saying they are influenced by it and are clearly not) and even some folk music, so despite being classed as a predominantly rock band there are clearly other influences coming through in the music and in the lyrics such as, Queens Of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters, White Stripes, Led Zeppelin and bluesmen like Blind Lemon Jefferson and Leadbelly.
The band recently completed a stint at Glass Tone studios in Bath working on what will become their self-titled debut EP.
In the band’s relatively short existence, they have played gigs around the country building up a large and devoted fan base along the way. They have supported a host of national touring acts (Vincent Vincent and The Villains, Jim Noir, Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly, Mazarin and The Cuban Heels so far, with Delays, Fortune Drive, The Milk Teeth and Scully on the way) and received local BBC and student radio airplay in numerous regions. They have also been featured in national magazines, including an interview in The Big Issue.
